Into the Future

There is a quiet rumble in the world of fashion over Fashion Week 2013 dates. Apparently Milan’s show dates will conflict with London’s causing them to overlap. The cause of the problem is New York Fashion Week dates which start on September 13, a week later than its normal starting date. This is due to the way 2013 dates will fall on the calendar. In 2008 it was decided by the Fashion Week powers that be that the shows would start on the second Thursday in February and September. Read on to see possible outcomes.

The Italian Chamber of Commerce is arguing however that it was to only be for a 3 year period which would end this year. But not all is said and done. Milan has three options on the table that they are considering. One option is to show in July simultaneously with the menswear shows. The next option is that Milan could show a week before New York. The last option that Milan is considering is keeping the dates as they are and clash with London Fashion Week.

If Milan were to go with option three Fashion Week attendees, models and other industry insiders will have to choose which city and shows to go to? Erm…awkward.
